Bi-State
membership offers opportunities to network and work together with other persons, agencies,
governmental officials and community-based health care providers to
develop strategies, policies and programs that lead to effective delivery
of primary health care.

and medical capacity expansion, women's health, and community development and planning.

Continuing Education and
Training Opportunities |
|
Ongoing workshops, conferences, and
information sessions focus on the organizational, administrative,
management and delivery of primary health care for physicians, nurses,
dentists and other clinicians, executives, administrators, board members,
support staff, and consumers. Examples of our training and education
include medical coding, HIPAA, pharmaceutical programs-340B, telepharmacy,
productivity-performance based compensation, health disparities
initiative, and recruitment and retention, to name a few.

Peer-to-Peer
Learning/Networking Opportunities
|
|
To engage with other professionals
who have similar interests, responsibilities and experience in providing
primary health care. Bi-State supports four peer-to-peer networking
opportunities in pharmacy, data, oral health and core management.
Member meetings provide an opportunity for Executive Directors, Financial
Directors and clinical staff to network together.

Access to Information
|
|
Regarding primary health care from a
local, state, regional, and national perspective. Informative articles,
health policy developments, Association news, calendar of events, and
other information of interest to people involved in primary care.

Membership Categories
|
|
Organizational
membership is open to any non-profit organization that supports the
mission and vision statement of the Corporation.
However, any for-profit organization that was a member in good
standing as of June 30, 2002 may be grandfathered as a member as long as
its annual payment of dues does not lapse.
Effective
June 30, 2002 Associate Membership and Individual Membership in the
Corporation cease to be offered.

Organizational
Focus
|
|
The Corporation’s primary
focus is on promoting and advocating for non-profit organizations that
include the following: (1) provides comprehensive primary care services,
(2) focuses the delivery of those services to a medically underserved
and/or indigent population in an ambulatory setting,
(3) provides a prospective sliding fee based upon ability to pay,
and (4) has community- and consumer-based Board of Directors, as defined
by the Public Health Services Act, section 330.
In addition, the Corporation supports the work of organizations
that focus on social, behavioral health care services, health education
and/or oral health to the medically underserved.

Each Bi-State office
(Montpelier, VT and Concord, NH) works with its respective
state health department and legislature, as well as the Health Resources
and Services Administration (HRSA), the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC),
the Bureau of Health Professions (BHPr), the US Public Health
Service and other state,
regional, and federal health policy organizations. Bi-State is integrally
involved in the development of health policies in each state, especially
those covering such issues as primary care access and health care delivery,
health care and insurance reform, Medicaid,
recruitment and retention of key medical staff, federal and state financing of
community health centers, state loan repayment programs for primary care
providers, services to minority, migrant and homeless populations, and
treatment of special conditions such as HIV, asthma and diabetes.

Bi-State receives partial
funding from the US Public Health Service, Bureau of Primary Health Care.
Additional financial support is provided by private foundations, other
public grants, and membership dues. |
