After four months of snow, it is with a cheery heart I say “Welcome Spring!" Despite the weather, Bi-State and our partners have been very busy.
February's legislative events in Vermont and New Hampshire were tremendously successful. |
In New Hampshire, the 2008 Legislative Breakfast of Champions focused on the theme of Building Primary Care Capacity in New Hampshire: Workforce, Capital Funding & Coverage. Champion speakers, Ann Peters, Lamprey Health Care; Rick Silverberg, Health First Family Care Center; and Dawn McKinney, National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) addressed a very attentive crowd.
The Vermont Legislative Reception took place in the Cedar Creek Room within the Vermont State House. As Bi-State’s Vermont director of public policy, Hunt Blair, states, “Partnership is our theme — Bi-State and our members partner with policy makers, state agencies and other stakeholder organizations to achieve health reform implementation: improving health care access, quality, and effectiveness in Vermont.”
On the national government relations side, in March, we went to Washington, DC, to meet with our Vermont and New Hampshire Congressional Delegations and/or their staff, to let them know where in Congress we could use their support. It was a wonderful visit and we had great reception from the Delegation about our priorities.
But the best news is yet to come! Register now for our annual Primary Care Conference, May 13 &14, at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, Vermont. This year’s theme is Integrating Behavioral Health & Primary Care — There is No Wrong Door. The programming for this year has been substantially expanded, and we have a wide array of speakers and workshops for everyone. Registration deadline has been extended to May 2, 2008.
Once again, I thank you for your support as we work to promote health care for all.
Sincerely,

Tess Kuenning
