Bi-State Primary Care Association honored Democratic House Speaker Terie Norelli with its 2007 New Hampshire Public Service Award on May 23, 2007 at its annual meeting.
“House Speaker Norelli is serving her sixth term in the New Hampshire House where she has been a strong and consistent proponent for women and children's health and welfare,” declares Tess Kuenning, Bi-State executive director.
“House Speaker Norelli is a consensus builder,” continues Kuenning, “and her effectiveness at building bipartisan support is well known.” .
The House Speaker thanked Bi-State for the award, and then told the assembled primary care clinicians, board members, executive directors, and staff that she wanted to thank them for their efforts delivering primary health care to people with no health insurance in New Hampshire.
“Community health centers are true community-based organizations keeping the population healthy,” House Speaker Norelli declared. “I look forward to continuing to work with Bi-State Primary Care Association … to see what we can do to help you do your job.” |
Bi-State Primary Care Association honored Senator Bernie Sanders with its 2007 Vermont Public Service Award on May 23, 2007 at its annual meeting.
“Senator Sanders has been instrumental in promoting the implementation of a community health center in every county in the state of Vermont,” states Tess Kuenning, Bi-State executive director.
“Senator Sanders has been a grassroots activist at the community level in fostering the development of the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) model, and has been a strong advocate in the House and in the Senate to promote increased funding for community health centers,” continues Kuenning.
In a pre-recorded speech, Senator Sanders thanked Bi-State for the award, and stated that it has been an honor to work with Bi-State over the years. The Senator then thanked the assembled primary care clinicians, board members, executive directors, and staff stating that “Together, you form a vital safety net, and serve as a model for what could be achieved through meaningful health care reform … that puts people’s needs first.”
