2007 VT President’s Award
Bi-State Primary Care Association honored Representative Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Hager with the President’s Award at its annual meeting on May 23, 2007.

"A long-time friend of community health centers, Representative Hager has been a strong advocate of our mission to improve access to primary care for the medically underserved people in New Hampshire,” asserts Tess Kuenning, Bi-State executive director. “Representative Hager exemplifies public service by increasing awareness of the public health needs and issues pertinent to the state’s health centers,” she continues.

Representative Hager thanked Bi-State for the award, and then stated that she wished to give Bi-State an award for its efforts educating legislators about the work being done by heath care centers and the issues they face. Representative Hager serves as a member of Bi-State’s Advisory Committee for Community Health Centers. The committee melds community and business leader expertise to increase health center visibility in the business and legislative arenas, focusing on the medical needs of the underserved and the health centers’ community-based programs.
Bi-State Primary Care Association honored John Tracy with the President’s Award at its annual meeting on May 23, 2007.

“John Tracy headed the major Vermont House Committee that sought to cover Vermont’s uninsured, and led the effort to pass Catamount Health,” states Tess Kuenning, Bi-State executive director. “With John leading the effort,” Kuenning continues, “the House Committee worked hard to interpret the reform and develop a fair and equitable health care solution for the uninsured.”

Tracy thanked Bi-State for the award, and then thanked the assembled primary care clinicians, board members, executive directors, and staff stating that “health care is about getting people the right care, at the right place, at the right time — and that is the work that you do.”
