| It has been said that every week is Community Health Center Week in Vermont. To complement this excellent reputation, Senator Bernie Sanders and Congressman Peter Welch made several stops during the August 5-11, 2007 Community Health Center Week. Additionally, Bi-State's Vermont staff unveiled the inaugural "Community Health Center Road Show." The Road Show is designed to inform Community Health Center staff about the health center movement and the vital role they have within that movement. During the week, Bi-State staff visited The Health Center of Plainfield and The Community Health Center of Burlington. |
Currently, there are seven Health Centers in Vermont, with 27 sites statewide and six of these sites offering dental services. The first Health Center in Vermont was Northern Counties Health Care, with sites established in Island Pond and Hardwick. Currently in Vermont, Bi-State members include Community Health Centers, Rural Health Clinics, Free Clinics and Planned Parenthood clinics, and served as the medical home for 133,000 patients seen in 2006 for a total of 475,000 patient visits.
