The Health Center staff received visits form both Governor Douglas and the Vermont office of Bi-State Primary Care Association during Community Health Center Week. The Governor proclaimed August 5-11, 2007 as Community Health Center Week in Vermont.
Governor Douglas was treated to a feast of fruit and pastries prior to his delivering of the Governor's Proclamation. Following the reception, the Governor toured the existing facilities and discussed The Health Center's current building plans with Dr. Matthew.
The Health Center provides primary medical care, dentistry, mental health services, physical therapy, and nutrition counseling in one convenient location for more than 8000 patients.
The Health Center had been a Rural Health Clinic since 1977, became an FQHC Look-Alike in 2006, and has recently been designated as a full Federally Qualified Health Center in 2007. Throughout, the Center's mission has been to provide low cost, quality, comprehensive health services to meet community needs.
The Health Center staff was also privy to the inaugural "Community Health Center (CHC) Road Show" from the Bi-State Vermont office. The Road Show is designed to inform CHC staff about the health center movement and the vital role they have within that movement.
